G̈ija-shepíê Bî (/ˈg̃iʤa/ /ˈʃep˔ɘ/ [loud; noisy] [flood]) is a temperate Large Town located in the Fîthdekî Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name G̈ija-shepíê Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as G̈ija-shepíê Bî was founded by Brîlê Zêthëm, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a yearly average temperature of 27°C (80°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 29°C (84°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 26°C (78°F). G̈ija-shepíê Bî receives an average of 284 cm/y (111 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. G̈ija-shepíê Bî covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2494 m (8182 ft) above sea level.

Overview

G̈ija-shepíê Bî was founded durring the late 13th century in fall of the year 1195, by Brîlê Zêthëm. The establishment of G̈ija-shepíê Bî was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Brîlê Zêthëm struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish G̈ija-shepíê Bî as a prison colony.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and G̈ija-shepíê Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber and earth construction, with most buildigns first floors resembling mounds of earth, with subsequent floors appearing as elaborate log cabins, with each building forming a tiered pyramid of sorts fromed from the stack of rectangular, peek roofed cabins. Most wooden bracing, support, and trim is carved with decorative knotwork, and the larger structures even feature painted trim which emphasises the knotwork.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî is buildings are arranged within a network of spacious packed earth streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a humble stone fence which is tall enough to provide adiquite cover for defenders to fire from, but no more than that. G̈ija-shepíê Bî's peasent-grade are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled G̈ija-shepíê Bî ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up.

Civic Infrastructure

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within G̈ija-shepíê Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for G̈ija-shepíê Bî's parks.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within G̈ija-shepíê Bî.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain G̈ija-shepíê Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Large Town. G̈ija-shepíê Bî's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for G̈ija-shepíê Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

G̈ija-shepíê Bî's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is recurring in G̈ija-shepíê Bî.

The Howler near G̈ija-shepíê Bî are known to be quite timid.

G̈ija-shepíê Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves square dance to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 3 via throat singing.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. History

G̈ija-shepíê Bî is in secret rebellion against their ostensible liege, having cut deals with his enemies, plotted to betray him for their own gain, or bridled under his tyranny and sought a better lord. The community’s leadership is all in on this plot, and outside viceroys or representatives are being kept carefully ignorant of the reality. The common folk may be oblivious to the truth, though they’ll doubtless have felt the same motivations and promptings that convinced their leaders to turn traitor.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, G̈ija-shepíê Bî was attacked by savage ogrekins living nearby. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is G̈ija-shepíê Bî lost 266 people, 217 livestock, and 60 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 213, when members of G̈ija-shepíê Bî's militia enacted an operation to transport a specific cashe of materials to a particular ruin unharmed. The operation was complicated by an outbreak of plague which struck the ranks, killing many and laying low many more. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in defeat for G̈ija-shepíê Bî's forces. The war is remembered in legend by G̈ija-shepíê Bî's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
